CRASHBOARD (education, not financial advice)

It measures.
It does not predict.

Twenty-nine indicators, drawn from eight United States government sources, scored every day and folded into two readings. An app for iPhone and iPad.

Two readings

Conditions Now

Stress visible in the system today: credit spreads, bank failures, volatility, funding pressure.

Conditions Ahead

What is building underneath: the yield curve, issuance appetite, positioning, inflation drift.

The colour is a rank, not a verdict

The background runs from deep red to deep green, ranked against every day since 2000. Saturation carries how much of the panel is actually reporting, so a thin or divided day visibly drains toward grey instead of asserting a confident amber.

worst on recordbest on record

Green is not a recommendation and red is not a warning. They say only where today sits against twenty-six years of history.

What makes it different

Every number is traceable

Tap any indicator to see what it measures, which way it points, its current value, and exactly how much it moved today's reading. Nothing is a black box.

Every source is public domain

No licensed market data is used or republished, which is why the history is complete and free of redistribution restrictions.

Readings are built from vintage data

The pipeline records what each series said on the day it was published, not what it was later revised to. A backtest on revised data sees the past more clearly than anyone could at the time; these readings do not.

Twenty-six years, one drag away

Scrub the history strip back through 2008, 2020 and 2022 and watch both readings — and every indicator behind them — move with it. Today is ranked against all of it, not judged on its own.

Where the data comes from

All data comes from United States government sources in the public domain, or from sources that explicitly permit redistribution. No licensed market data is used or republished.

What it costs

Today's reading is free, and stays free.

A subscription of $12 a year unlocks twenty-six years of scrubbable history and the per-indicator contributions panel. Prices in other regions are set by Apple's equivalent tier. The subscription renews annually unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and is managed in your Apple Account settings.

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Privacy

No account. No sign-in. No analytics, no advertising identifier, no third-party SDKs, no tracking of any kind. Everything is computed on your device. Nothing about you is transmitted anywhere — and this website carries no analytics or cookies either. Read the full policy.

Crashboard does not do these things

It executes no trades. It connects to no brokerage. It holds no funds. It makes no personalised recommendations. It is a reading of public economic data, and nothing more.

Important

Crashboard is provided for educational and entertainment purposes only. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or other asset.

Nothing here is personalised to your circumstances. The author is not a licensed financial adviser, broker or investment professional. Consult a qualified professional before making any financial decision.

The readings are one opinionated model built from public data. That data may be delayed, revised, incomplete or wrong, and the model may be wrong even when the data is right. Historical readings are not a forecast: how the barometer scored a past period says nothing reliable about what happens next.
